Toyota recalls 10,000 cars for wiper issue

  • Toyota is recalling 10,000 cars from the most recent model years
  • The windshield wipers can break
  • A wiper unit will be replaced
Toyota is recalling about 10,000 cars because the windshield wiper wipers can break.
Toyota says the recall includes 2013 and 2014 Toyota Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, Camry, Camry Hybrid and 2014 Corolla sedans.
The problem involves a manufacturing mistake in the wiper switch assembly. A potential short circuit could occur if the wiper is moved from the "off" position to the "mist" position. This could cause the wipers to break, increasing the risk of a crash.
When cars are brought in by their owners, dealers will replace the affected wiper switches for free.
